Iowa quarterback Ken Ploen led the Hawkeyes to a 35-19 victory over future coaching legend Tommy Prothro's Oregon State Beavers. Ploen completed 9 of 10 passes and rushed for 59 yards. Ploen would go on to a successful career in the Canadian Football league leading his Winnipeg Blue Bombers to 6 Grey Cup appearances.
