Michigan State defeated the Wisconsin Badgers during the Final Four and went on to play the Florida Gators in the Championship Game. Michigan State player Mateen Cleaves sprained his ankle with about 16 minutes to play in the second half. It appeared as though the Gators would take the game, but Cleaves came back and helped Michigan secure the win, earning him the Most Outstanding Player award for the tournament.
