Kansas State Wildcats: The Wildcats were originally called the Aggies for the first 19 years of athletic competition going back to the 1890's. They changed their name to Wildcats in 1915 and then changed it again to the "Farmers" in 1917. They realized this wasn't a very intimidating moniker and changed back to the Wildcats. Willie the Wildcat is is now the official team mascot and should not be confused with another Willie Wildcat who is the mascot for Northwestern University. FUN FACT: The 2009 Kansas State baseball team became the first team in the schools 100 plus year history to receive an NCAA tournament bid.
